Small Farm Tools

My small farm dual purpose work horses, a riding lawn mower and my garden wagon. Our property isn't big enough to justify having a tractor, or even a quad for that matter. We found this lawn mower used about five years ago and it's been an fantastic tool. I can load the wagon full of compost, bedding, soil, or drop the wagon walls and load a bunch of pallets and haul it all wherever I need it. Makes keeping an eye on the 1 & 3 year old easy, because they know when the wagon empties they get a ride. It's also a great tool for enticing the 9 & 11 year old to help with or stay focused on a job because they get to drive it. Building a farm doesn't have to be expensive or out of reach!

Shelled corn

Shelled the corn from this year's garden. Was just a couple sample rows of glass gem and giant Indian corn. Have staked out a much larger area for next season. Growing for our personal use as well to supplement the livestock's winter feed❤️stay tuned for corn bread

Making goats milk yogurt

It's always bewildered me that most home made yogurt recipes say you need yogurt to start a new batch. Defeats the purpose doesn't it? I made this batch with stinging nettles!!!! One of my favorite plants❤️

Surprise Arrival

Pleasant surprise last night! When Heidrun showed up on the farm we were told she was in her first heat and showed signs of such, wasn't expecting any kids till November. Beautiful Doeling! Momma and little are doing well so far❤️will start milking in about a week!

Feeling Accomplished

Been busy today❤️ few pounds of beans snapped, blanched and frozen, eight quarts of bread and butter pickles, and first butcher of the season. Mond tony ad their first solo journey at processing. I'm one proud momma❤️ they both had them finished in less than 30 min, and the meat is no worse for wear than my own first attempts😍
