Day one: fought tooth and nail to even get on the stand, was a two person job. Then she only tolerated it long enough for me to get a few squirts worth.
Day 2: still fought to get on the milk stand and kicks like a mule when I touch her udder. But once I started milking she froze. But only until I took my hand away to readjust my grip...but we got five ounces.
Day 3: not as much of a fight to get her on the stand. Still kicks like the dickens when I touch her udder, but she let me milk out one side almost completely. She stepped in the milk bucket and after I stopped milking to get her hoof out she was not going to let me try again. Ten ounces this time😍
Day4: easy lead to the milk stand still kicks when I clean her udder but she's tolerating the milking now, she actually eats her treats while I milk. Finally let me milk out one side completely and even a little bit of the other side, I'm just not fast enough for her patience. But up to almost 16 oz
Day 5: what a great day!! All it took was a gentle guidance toward the milk stand and she got up all on her own! She even let me double fist it! Almost a complete milk out, and it's almost a whole quart!!!
Pleasant surprise last night! When Heidrun showed up on the farm we were told she was in her first heat and showed signs of such, wasn't expecting any kids till November. Beautiful Doeling! Momma and little are doing well so far❤️will start milking in about a week!
Been busy today❤️ few pounds of beans snapped, blanched and frozen, eight quarts of bread and butter pickles, and first butcher of the season. Mond tony ad their first solo journey at processing. I'm one proud momma❤️ they both had them finished in less than 30 min, and the meat is no worse for wear than my own first attempts😍
